Privacy Policy for Diffinity

Last updated: September 8, 2026

Introduction

Diffinity is a browser extension that helps developers review code by highlighting copied or refactored code blocks in GitHub pull requests. This privacy policy explains what data the extension handles, what leaves your device, and your rights regarding your information.

Information Stored on Your Device

Diffinity stores the following locally, using your browser's extension storage:

How Diffinity Processes Code

To analyze a pull request, Diffinity fetches that PR's diff from GitHub, using your existing GitHub session so that diffs from private repositories you have access to load correctly.

The diff is analyzed entirely in your browser. Diffinity does not send your source code, diffs, or repository data to us or to any other party, and does not store them after analysis.

Data Sent Off Your Device

The only data Diffinity transmits off your device is during license validation: when you activate a license, your license key is sent to our payment and licensing provider to verify it. Nothing else is transmitted. If you never enter a license key, Diffinity sends nothing off your device.

Diffinity does not collect analytics or telemetry.

Third-Party Services

Polar.sh handles payment processing and license validation (see "Data Sent Off Your Device" above for what is transmitted, and when). Their privacy policy: https://polar.sh/legal/privacy

Permissions

Diffinity requests only the permissions it needs to do its job:

Data Storage and Security

All stored data lives in your browser's local extension storage. Uninstalling the extension removes all of its local data. We do not sell, trade, or share your data.

Compliance

Diffinity is designed for data minimization: it processes code locally, stores only license and usage data on your device, and transmits data off-device only to validate a license you choose to enter. This supports compliance with regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.

By installing and using Diffinity, you agree to this privacy policy.
